Launch of cervical cancer prevention project in Kilifi County

Kilifi County has taken a significant step in the fight against cervical cancer with a new collaboration between Beyond Zero and the County Government of Kilifi. Today, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed, marking a joint commitment to advance the county’s cervical cancer control efforts.

The program launch began with a comprehensive five-day training for 21 health workers from 16 health facilities, developed and facilitated by master trainers from the Ministry of Health’s National Cancer Control Program. This training aims to ensure that standardized, high-quality skills and knowledge are imparted to health workers, improving care delivery for cervical cancer screening, prevention, and treatment.

Beyond Zero’s Technical Advisor, Ms. Jane Kiragu reiterated the foundation’s dedication to supporting the health and wellbeing of mothers and children in Kilifi, a county that was among the first to receive a Beyond Zero mobile clinic in 2014.

The event, organized by the County Health Management Team, was honoured by the presence of the Governor’s spouse, Her Excellency Susanne Mungaro, reflecting strong local leadership support for this vital healthcare initiative.
