Beyond Zero partnered with the County Government of West Pokot’s Department of Health Services on a 1-year menstrual hygiene program in October 2023. Goal: support vulnerable school-going girls in North Pokot sub-county with uninterrupted school terms.
In Feb 2024, Beyond Zero donated menstrual hygiene kits to 1,000 girls from various schools in West Pokot. Kits include sanitary pads, underwear, soap, and petroleum jelly.
Menstrual hygiene kits empower girls to manage periods with dignity, stay in school, and pursue education without interruptions. Addressing menstrual needs promotes gender equality and empowers girls.
Comprehensive health education on personal & general hygiene; communicable & waterborne diseases; handwashing practices; drugs & substance use; awareness on elimination of child marriages, teenage pregnancies, & FGM is conducted during the distribution of the hygiene kits.
